The City of Merritt now brings you the convenience of managing your accounts online and at any time. To use the Online Services you will need your Access Code/PIN which is printed on your bill or statement. You can also obtain your Access Code/PIN by calling the City of Merritt Finance Department at (250) 378-4224.

To Claim your Home Owner Grant Online

Effective January 1, 2021, the Province of BC is responsible for the Home Owner Grant program.  All homeowner and retroactive grant applications must be submitted directly to the Province using their online system at www.gov.bc.ca/homeownergrant or phone 1 888 355 2700 to speak with a live agent.

Please ensure that your homeowner grant application is submitted by the “Due Date” on your tax notice to avoid penalty.

Effective January 1, 2021 the City of Merritt is no longer able to accept homeowner or retroactive grant applications.

To Register and View your Tax Account Online

You may view details of your Property Tax account including assessments and bill summaries if you are registered.  

  1.  Click on "Register" on the upper right of the screen.  Complete the required fields including User Name and Password (requires 7 characters). You will also need to add a name that you would like displayed on your virtual account along with an email address.  
  2.  Click "Register". Once registration is complete a new screen will appear. 
  3.  Click on your Name on the upper right hand corner of the screen.
  4.  From the "Need to Add an Account" section of the screen click on "Select Account Type" (i.e. PT - Property Tax, UB - Utility Billing).
  5.  Select account type PT-Property Taxes
  6.  Use the last 8 digits after the 451 of your roll number (including the decimal) and the Access Code/PIN from your Property Tax Notice.  
  7.  Click on "Save Account".
  8.   You account is now saved and you can add additional properties or utility billing accounts under the same profile.

To view your Property Tax account place your cursor over the "Online Services" tab above the City logo and click on "Property Taxes" or access through the "Quick Link" tool at the top of the page.
